Antares Unveils New Leadership Team for Commercial Division to Drive Growth

Antares Global Management Ltd. has appointed a new leadership team for its Commercial Division, emphasizing growth and specialization in various insurance sectors.

Antares Global Management Ltd. has announced a significant development within its newly established Commercial Division, which integrates Syndicate 1274 with its Bermuda-based operation, Antares Re.

Strategic Restructuring

This past November, Antares outlined its strategy to reshape its underwriting structure, effectively creating separate Commercial and Retail divisions from its Bermuda and UK re/insurance businesses.

Taking charge of the Antares Commercial Division is Mark Graham, who assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Meanwhile, Pantelis Koulovasilopoulos will head the newly created Retail division, which includes the recently formed Antares Insurance Co. Ltd. This UK-located insurer focuses on retail operations, primarily working through established Managing General Agents (MGAs) in the UK market.

New Leadership Team

Supporting Graham in the Commercial Division is a freshly appointed leadership team consisting of three heads:

  • Martin Campbell will lead the Casualty FinPro Division and chair the Antares Underwriting Committee.

In addition to his current responsibilities, he is expected to temporarily oversee the Reinsurance Division and, pending approvals from the board and regulatory bodies, will become the chief underwriting officer at Antares Managing Agency Ltd. (AMAL).

Furthermore, he is anticipated to take on the role of active underwriter for Syndicate 1274, contingent on Lloyd’s authorization.

Joining Antares in March 2019, Campbell has previous experience with both The Channel Syndicate and Newline Group.

  • James Glynn is set to head the Marine Division.

After starting at Antares in October 2011 as a specie underwriter, he advanced to class underwriter for Specie business in January 2017.

Glynn brings valuable insights from his time at Willis Towers Watson.

  • Leading the Specialty Division, which addresses political and financial risks, terrorism, and accident and health coverage, is James Thomas.

He joined Antares in December 2015 as a political and financial risks underwriter before becoming the class underwriter in January 2020.

His background includes experience with AIG.

Leadership Insights

In his remarks, Graham expressed enthusiasm about the leadership structure within the Antares Commercial Division.

He acknowledged the expertise of Campbell, Glynn, and Thomas, voicing confidence in their potential to foster ongoing success in the syndicate and reinsurance arenas as the company moves into 2025.

He also congratulated the team on their newly acquired roles, emphasizing that their appointments reflect Antares’s growth and achievements under the leadership of CEO Mike van der Straaten.

Operating globally, Antares—which was formerly known as QIC Global—is part of the Qatar Insurance Group, a leading insurance provider catering to the needs of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
